The question we answer

This consultation is for employees and candidates who have a contract, offer, vacancy notice, or employer pay reference but cannot see how the parts fit together. We identify the relevant agreement named in your documents, locate the pay group and step, and explain what those labels mean for base salary.

We then compare the written classification with the duties you describe. That is an explanation and preparation exercise—not a binding legal assessment or a promise that an employer must reclassify a role.

What is included

  • Review of up to 20 relevant pages sent at least two business days beforehand
  • Identification of the named tariff agreement and current pay table
  • Explanation of Entgeltgruppe, Stufe, weekly hours, and table amount
  • Discussion of prior experience, step progression, annual special payment, and clearly applicable allowances
  • A 60-minute private consultation in English
  • A two-page written summary with terms, figures, and questions to raise with HR

What is outside scope

We do not represent you, contact your employer, calculate tax or net salary, review termination disputes, or provide legal opinions. Where a disagreement requires legal interpretation or formal action, we will say so and suggest that you contact a German employment lawyer, trade union, or works council.

Before the session

Send the contract or offer pages that mention the collective agreement and classification, the job description, and any employer explanation you have already received. Redact identification numbers, bank details, signatures, and health information. Add a short note about prior work that may be relevant to the new position.

The next step

Use the contact form to describe the agreement and classification if known—for example, “TV-L, E11, Stufe 1.” We confirm fit and availability before asking you to share documents.
